Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department’s Station 7 crew were special guests at a Make-A-Wish presentation at Siegel Middle School on Friday, May 8.

SMS students gathered in the gymnasium as Student Council members and faculty put on a production of “The Price is Right” in their Disney-themed attire.

At the conclusion of the presentation, a SMS Student Council member named Whitman, gave his prize from the “Showcase Showdown” to 15-year old Samantha. Samantha was the Make-A-Wish recipient of a Disney Cruise to the Bahamas with her family.

Each year, MFRD’s Station 7 floods a ditch at the school for the Student Council’s largest fundraiser, the “Duck Race.” The “Duck Race” has allowed SMS to donate almost $15,000 over the years to the Make-A-Wish program. This year, the school was able to donate $3,600. Siegel High School chipped in another $3,500 to be able to send Samantha and her family on the vacation.

“We were so thrilled to have MFRD be a part of the presentation,” said Edie Sessions, Siegel Middle School faculty member and Student Council Advisor. “Our Duck Race would not be as successful without their help.”
