[ARCHIVED] MFRD Units Respond to Car Fire on I-24

Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department units responded to a car fire at the 80 mile marker (east) on Interstate 24 around 12:45 Tuesday afternoon.

Units arrived on scene to find a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the engine and driver’s compartment fully involved.

Crews extinguished the fire, but according to Captain/Shift Inspector Mark McCluskey, the vehicle is a total loss.

“The cause of the fire is unknown, but it is most likely electrical,” said McCluskey.

No injuries were associated with this incident.
