[ARCHIVED] Justice Assistance Grant (JAG)

“Notice is hereby given that the City of Murfreesboro and Rutherford County are eligible to apply for a grant award of $67,090.00 from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) through the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), and the U. S. Department of Justice. The award would be made jointly to the City of Murfreesboro and Rutherford County to be used for law enforcement purposes. The award requires no local matching funds.

The City of Murfreesboro and Rutherford County have agreed to share the funds, with Murfreesboro receiving $33,545.00 and Rutherford County $33,545.00. The Murfreesboro City Council and the Rutherford County Board of Commissioners have reviewed the terms and conditions of the application.

The Murfreesboro Police Department proposes to use the City’s share of the award to purchase a police truck for use in the DARE/GREAT administrative services capacity with the overall goal of improving support services and officer safety for the Uniformed Division and Criminal Investigations Division.

The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office proposes to use Rutherford County’s share of the award to purchase Motorola APX 7000 radios with the overall goal of increasing officer safety and improving communications between Patrol Deputies and Communications. In addition, suppressors will be purchased to be installed on School Resource Officers’ carbine rifles with the overall goal of increasing officer safety.
