[ARCHIVED] MFRD Makes Arrest in Early Morning Car Fire Investigation

Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department’s Fire Marshal’s Office arrested Joshua James Ihm, 35, of 550 Crossway Avenue Friday afternoon. He was charged with setting fire to personal property.

Early Friday morning, MFRD responded to a car fire at 515 North Walnut Street (Westbrook Towers). Crews discovered heavy smoke and fire showing in the backseat area of a 2014 Kia sedan. Crews extinguished the fire quickly.

Due to the location of the fire, the Fire Marshal’s Office was called to investigate. After talking to the owner of the car, Assistant Fire Marshal Carl Peas was able to develop a suspect. Arrest warrants were issued and Ihm was booked into Rutherford County Detention Center.

He is being held on $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on April 17.

No further details will be released at this time.
