[ARCHIVED] MFRD Crews Respond to Vehicle Fire at 1617 Huntington Drive

Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department’s District 8 and Engine 1 responded to a vehicle fire at 1617 Huntington Drive just before 3:00 Wednesday afternoon.

Crews arrived to discover a 1997 Dodge Ram under a detached carport with fire under the dashboard. Crews were able to contain the fire to the vehicle, and keep it from endangering the carport and the residence.

No one was injured in the incident.

The cause of the fire is unknown; however, officials on scene say that it appeared electrical in nature. The truck is believed to be a total loss. The carport only received minimal smoke damage, and the residence was unharmed.

“This could have gotten out of hand fast,” said Shift Commander Daryl Alexander. “Crews got the fire out quickly and were able to minimize damage. They did a fantastic job,” he added.
