[ARCHIVED] MFRD Responds to Early Morning Fire at Brookwood Terrace Apartments

Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department’s Engine 3, District 2, Ladder 8, and Rescue 7 responded to a fire at Brookwood Terrace Apartments located at 2743 South Rutherford Boulevard around 2:30 Saturday morning.

According to officials on scene, the occupants of the affected unit were already outside. Crews entered Building 7 to find an apartment on the third level with a sprinkler activated and a small amount of flames showing in the kitchen.

A combination of fire crews and the sprinkler system extinguished the fire quickly.

No injuries were associated with this incident. The residents of the affected unit will be displaced. It is unknown at this time if any other residents will be displaced, but it is a possibility due to water damage from the sprinkler system.

Shift Commander Tim Swann said that the fire appears to have started in the kitchen, but the cause is unknown.

MFRD’s Fire Marshal’s Office is en route and will be conducting a routine investigation.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
