[ARCHIVED] MFRD Crews Respond to Grass Fire at Scottish Drive

Grass Fire

Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department’s Ladder 9 responded to a grass fire at the dead end of Scottish Drive just after 12:30 Wednesday afternoon.

When the crew arrived on scene, some of the fire had extinguished itself. However, the wind began to pick up and the fire started to spread. Ladder 9’s crew called for the brush truck to assist.

While waiting for the brush truck to arrive, the crew utilized a foam extinguisher to take care of the more troublesome hotspots.

The brush truck arrived on scene and after applying a combined 200 gallons of water, the fire was contained to a small area. Crews wetted down the area to prevent rekindling.

The cause of the fire is unknown, but according to Captain/Shift Inspector Randy Rae, things could have been a lot worse. “We are fortunate that the fire did not reach the larger timber in the area,” he said.

No one was injured during the incident and MFRD crews have cleared the scene.
