City Cancellations and Postponements: Coronavirus


 In response to CDC guidelines, a number of City facilities remain closed. 

City Schools

In accordance with the Governor’s recommendation, Murfreesboro City Schools remain closed.  On March 24, Gov. Lee extended recommended statewide school closure to April 24, 2020.

CHOW buses began running Monday, March 16, to help with feeding our students. 

ESP will be closed. We apologize for any inconvenience that this closure may cause but we want to ere on the side of caution.

City Schools will continue to monitor the situation and keep staff, parents and our community updated.


Beginning Thursday, March 19, the Murfreesboro Electric office will be closed to walk-in traffic.  Murfreesboro Electric encourages customers to use the following options to manage their accounts:

  • Visit to take advantage of online bill-pay.
  • Download the SmartHub app on your tablet or smartphone to view usage and pay your bill.
  • Call 1-888-678-1986 to pay your bill by phone.
  • Call 615-893-5514, and press 3, to speak with a customer service representative.
  • MED office drive-thru and night drop. 


Drive-thru service remains open during normal business hours, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. To pay a bill online or access your account, visit or use interactive phone system calling (615)-848-3209, Option 1)

City Transit (Rover) 

City Transit (Rover) has implemented temporary route changes to Memorial Blvd. effective Wednesday, March 18 until further notice to accommodate screening and security measures installed at the Veterans Administration (VA) Hospital.  Buses continue to operate.

City Court 


By Order entered March 13, 2020, the Tennessee Supreme Court suspended all in-person court proceedings from close of business on Friday, March 13, 2020, through Tuesday, March 31, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On Wednesday, March 25, the Court extended the Order until May.  Cases are being rescheduled.  The Court Clerk’s Office will remain open.  Please call the Clerk’s office at 615-890-2142. 

Golf Department 

City golf facilities including Old Fort Golf Club, The VA Golf Course, and Bloomfield Links, were closed effective Tuesday, March 17-Tuesday, March 25.  All golf facilities will remain closed through Wednesday, March 25.  Old Fort will open with modified play (walking only until further notice) on Thursday, March 26.  Old Fort will have modified hours, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, 7 days a week, weather permitting. The clubhouse will be closed to patrons until further notice. Tee times can be make online at or by calling the golf shop at 615-896-2448.

Parks & Recreation:

These Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department facilities will be closed to the public until further notice:

Adams Tennis Complex (indoor courts and outdoor restrooms)

Bradley Academy Museum and Cultural Center

Cannonsburgh Village, grounds and Visitor’s Center

Gateway Island Reception Center

McFadden Community Center

Patterson Park Community Center


St. Clair Street Senior Center

Wilderness Station at Barfield Crescent Park

Playgrounds and restrooms

Ball fields: Barfield Crescent Park ball fields, StarPlex ball fields, McKnight Park ball fields, Old Fort Park ball fields, Siegel  Soccer Park

Bark Parks: at Cason Trailhead and at General Bragg Trailhead”
