Middle Tennessee State University will host the TSSAA High School Basketball Tournament on March 6-9 (Spring Break Week) and March 13-16. The TSSAA
Division I High School Basketball Tournaments are set March 6-9 for the
girls and March 13-16 for the boys inside Murphy Center’s Hale Arena on
the northwest side of the MTSU campus.
The tournament will cause several temporary changes in parking and traffic patterns on the MTSU campus:
- The Greenland Drive parking lot will be reserved for TSSAA ticket holders and there will be a $5 charge to park in that lot. Students and faculty who use the Greenland Drive lot are encouraged to find alternative parking around campus during this busy time.
- MTSU’s East Main Street and Rutherford Boulevard entrances will be the most convenient campus entry points during the tournament. The arm gate on the east end of the Cope building will be in the up position during tournaments to allow access to Midgett Lot and Old Main Circle.
- Team buses will enter campus from Middle TN Blvd. at Faulkinberry Drive. Faulkinberry Drive will be CLOSED to campus traffic from Middle TN Blvd. to Normal Way. Normal Way will also be closed to accommodate the parking of all team buses. No campus parking or road access will be available in these areas.
- The Raider
Xpress shuttle service will not run while the university is on spring break; it
will return to its normal schedule March 11. During the second TSSAA tournament
March 13-16, the shuttles’ "Green Route” will not serve the Greenland
Drive parking lot. To accommodate riders affected by this temporary change, an
extra bus will serve the “Red Route” from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 13-14.
All other scheduled events during this time will be allowed to park (first come, first serve) in any of the non-pay lots based on availability.
Please be advised that the construction taking place on Middle Tennessee Blvd. could potentially cause/create traffic delays. With the expected increase in traffic, please allow for extra time to reach your destination. The traffic plan is designed to maximize the use of the perimeter lots and support Raider Xpress efficiency.
The TSSAA Tournaments attract thousands of prospective students, their families, alumni and other University supporters on campus for these high school events. We appreciate your cooperation and assistance in helping to make our visitors feel welcomed on campus.
