The 12th Annual Murfreesboro Half Marathon will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018. The Murfreesboro Half Marathon (The Middle Half) is a 13.1 mile run that starts and ends at the MTSU Dean A. Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium. The run starts at 6:55 am with the wheelchair participants followed by most of the runners starting at 7 a.m. The participants have 3 and a half hours to complete the run. The course meanders through the downtown area including the Oaklands Mansion area and circles the MTSU campus.
To ensure the safety of the 2,500 runners, several streets will be completely closed between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. There are partial road closures that will be in effect through 10:30 a.m. The road closures will cause a bit of a delay, so residents should plan ahead of they have travels that take them in the area of the race course.
Because the course runs by the geographic center of Tennessee and begins and ends at Middle Tennessee State University, it has been tagged “The Middle Half”. The flat course is a favorite for runners; many state records have been broken at the event.
