[ARCHIVED] MFRD Responds to House Fire at 2811 Craythorne Drive

Craythorne Fire

District 7, Ladder 6, Engine 1, Engine 4, and Rescue 8 responded to a house fire located at 2811 Craythorne Drive just before 8:00 Saturday night.

Upon arrival, crews discovered heavy smoke and visible flames shooting from the chimney of the three-story home. The only occupant was out of the structure when crews arrived.

Crews initiated an interior attack, but quickly had to change the game plan. The fire in the attic proved to be too much, so crews pulled out of the house and began a defensive exterior attack.

The fire is out at this time, but crews remain on scene to monitor for hotspots.

One MFRD Firefighter was transported to Saint Thomas Rutherford with non-life threatening injuries.

The Fire Marshal’s Office was called to the scene to investigate. “We will be back on the scene tomorrow to conduct a thorough investigation,” said Assistant Fire Marshal Carl Peas.

The American Red Cross was called to assist the displaced occupant. More information will be released as it becomes available.
