For the twentieth consecutive year the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded the City of Murfreesboro with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting.

“I want to commend Finance Director Melissa Wright and the entire team in the Tax and Finance Department for yet another terrific audit,” said City Manager Craig Tindall. “We are confident that the way we manage and document our finances according to GFOA standards demonstrates our commitment to transparency and the public trust.”

Employees in the City of Murfreesboro Finance and Tax Department strive each year for excellence in accounting and financial reporting. The annual GFOA recognition certifies that the City of Murfreesboro’s financial audit is prepared in accordance with guidelines recognized by nationally established standards.

“We are proud to receive this recognition for the twentieth consecutive year from GFOA,” said Finance Director and City Recorder/Treasurer Melissa Wright. “I credit our staff in the Finance and Tax Department and our auditing firm Jobe, Hastings & Associates CPAs for the hard work in attaining this significant achievement.”
