[ARCHIVED] Rutherford County News: Fire Marshal Issues Burn Ban for Rutherford County

Picture1

The Rutherford County Fire Marshal has placed a burn ban in effect on Wednesday, January 31 and Thursday, February 1, 2018. The burn ban is in effect due to wind gusts over 30 mph and low humidity in the Middle Tennessee area.

Burn permits are free and required by law from October 15 through May 15, 2018. They are only issued when the area conditions are safe for burning.

The Rutherford County Fire and Rescue Department requests that even residents with burn permits still check with the municipality before burning to ensure that there are no restrictions in effect at that time.

In order to receive a burn permit, you must call the Department of Agriculture and Forestry at 1-877-350-2876.

You can receive local information by contacting the Rutherford County Fire and Rescue Department at (615) 867-4626 or visit their website at http://firerescue.rutherfordcountytn.gov/
