[ARCHIVED] MFRD Responds to House Fire at 1835 Susan Drive

1835 Susan Dr Fire

Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department’s Engines 1 and 4, District 7, and Rescue 8 responded to a house fire at 1835 Susan Drive around 9:45 Friday morning.

Upon arrival, crews discovered heavy smoke and flames coming through the front of the home. According to Captain Robert Alsup, while conducting his initial 360 size up, he noticed smoke throughout the structure. Fortunately, no one was home at the time of the fire.

Several animals were recovered. Crews tried to revive them with pet rescue breathing masks, but were unsuccessful. A total of five small dogs, one cat, and one bird perished in the incident.
The house received heavy fire damage in the bedroom and smoke and water damage throughout.

The residents will be displaced, but did not require assistance from the Red Cross.

The Fire Marshal’s Office is on scene conducting a routing investigation. Though the cause is unknown at this time, it appears that the fire started in a front bedroom.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
