Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department’s Kurt McMahan was promoted to Captain effective Saturday, August 10.
McMahan has been with the department since September 1994. Over the years, he has obtained the following certifications: Firefighter I and II, Fire Apparatus Operator, Officer I and II, and Instructor I and II. He is a certified EMT-IV and a Hazardous Materials Technician.
He has been an Acting Captain for the department for over 14 years.
McMahan has been involved in the department’s extracurricular activities. He served on MFRD’s Honor Guard from 2000-2011 and was a part of the Fire Prevention play Dante’s Dance from 2004-2008. In 2012, along with his crew, McMahan received “Firefighter of the Month” for a first responder rescue.
McMahan will train for four shifts with his Shift Commander and will begin his assignment at Station 6 on August 26.
