[ARCHIVED] MFRD Responds to Two-Car Garage Fire on Battle Avenue

315 Battle Ave

Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department's Ladder 1, Engines 1 and 4, and Rescue 9 responded to a two-car detached garage on fire at 315 Battle Avenue just before midnight Wednesday.

When crews arrived on scene, they discovered a two-car garage (double door) structure on fire. Crews extinguished the fire quickly and were able to keep it from endangering any other structures. Fortunately, the house was approximately 30 feet away from the garage.

Officials on scene say that it appears that a portion of the garage was used as a "workshop" type area. There were no vehicles in the unit, but according to Shift Commander Dale Maynard, one side housed a four-wheeler.

"Both the outside and inside of the garage were burned pretty good," said Maynard.

The cause of the fire is unclear at this time. Captain/Shift Inspector Nora Smith, the Captain on Ladder 1, will be conducting the investigation.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
