Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department's Ladder 1, Engines 1 and 3, and Rescues 2 and 8 responded to a duplex fire at 533 Reid Avenue around 9:30 Sunday night.
Crews arrived on scene to find heavy smoke and flames exiting the back side of the structure. According to Acting Shift Commander Tony Lehew, the fire was knocked down quickly. "Once on scene, crews got the fire knocked down within a few minutes," he said.
It is unknown if anyone was inside the home at the time the fire started. When conditions were safe to make entry, Engine 3's crew went in with a thermal imaging camera to conduct search and rescue efforts. Crews are still searching the home at this time, but so far they have not found anything.
The fire appears to have started in a back bedroom. However, MFRD's Fire Marshals' Office will be called to the scene to investigate.

UPDATE:
According to Captain/Shift Training Officer Mike Keith, who is on scene, no victims were found in the structure at 533 Reid Avenue during search and rescue efforts.
Assistant Fire Marshal Carl Peas is en route to conduct a routine investigation.
There are no further details to be released at this time.
