Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department’s Engines 1 and 3, Ladders 1 and 2, and Rescues 2 and 8 responded to a fire at 845 Park Avenue, the location of the old Paramount Packaging building, around 2:00 Wednesday afternoon.

Crews arrived on scene, entered the building, and discovered smoke and flames coming from the ceiling. According to Shift Commander Daryl Alexander, a construction crew was grinding metals to repair a hopper near the ceiling, when dust suddenly ignited. The fire spread to the insulation.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly and keep the damage to the building at a minimum. They are still on scene ventilating smoke.

One victim was transported via ambulance with possible second to third degree burns. His condition is unknown at this time. No other injuries were associated with this incident.
