[ARCHIVED] MFRD Units Respond to Apartment Fire at 2315 Mercury Blvd

Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department's Engines 1 and 3, Ladder 8, and Rescue 8 responded to 2315 Mercury Boulevard (Tennessee Park Apartments) just before 9:00 Sunday night.

When crews arrived on scene, they saw light smoke coming from Apartment B13. According to Engine 3's Acting Captain Tim Lampitt, when they entered the unit, the smoke became heavier.

Crews discovered the fire in a bedroom. The fire was knocked down quickly. "Damage was contained to that bedroom," said Lampitt, "but there was smoke damage throughout the unit."

The three residents of that apartment are displaced, but will be staying with family members.

Assistant Fire Marshal Michael Bartlett was called to the scene to investigate.

More information will be released when it becomes available.
