[ARCHIVED] MFRD Dispatched to Manson Pike Trailhead for Third Time in Three Days

Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department, Murfreesboro Police Department, and Rutherford County EMS responded to yet another call at the Manson Pike Trailhead around 5:20 Tuesday evening.

Dispatch received a call from witnesses stating that a body was floating in the river.

District 4 responded to the scene and called for Districts 7 and 9 in the event that the water rescue boat needed to be deployed.

When crews arrived on scene, the 19 year old victim was already out of the river with MPD and a bystander. It took a group effort from MFRD, MPD, and RCEMS to board the victim for transport because the victim was located off the greenway in a muddy and slippery area.

The victim was taken to Middle Tennessee Medical Center and eventually pronounced dead. The name of the victim is not being released at this time, pending notification of family members.

At least one MFRD Firefighter and one MPD Officer were injured during this incident.

The details of this incident are being investigated at this time. More information will be released as it becomes available.
