[ARCHIVED] MFRD Responds to Water Rescue at Manson Pike Dam

Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department’s District 7 and Engine 4 were dispatched to a water rescue at the Manson Pike Dam located near Searcy Street just after 4:00 pm July 7.

Upon arrival, crews spotted two juvenile male victims holding on to a clump of trees in the water.

District 7’s crews manned a rescue boat and paddled to the victims, with Engine 4’s crew and Rutherford County SORT serving as down river safety and backup. The victims were given personal floatation devices and helmets and were taken safely to shore.

The victims had apparently gone for a swim and did not realize the power of the water. “They swam to the trees and waited for help,” said Acting Shift Commander Clay Walls. “The teamwork of our crews successfully brought these two to safety.”

No injuries were reported with this incident.
