[ARCHIVED] Roof of Imperial Inn Blown Off by Strong Storm Winds

Imperial Inn

Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department's Ladder 1 and Engine 1 responded to a call at the Imperial Inn located at 610 NW Broad Street around 9:00 Tuesday night.

When crews arrived on scene, they found that the center portion of the hotel's roof was missing. It had been blown off by strong storm winds.

According to Shift Commander Tim Swann, winds in Murfreesboro reached approximately 60 mph during the storms.

Captain Jamie Bigelow from MFRD's Ladder 1 called to coordinate the City's Rover buses to relocate an unknown amount of hotel guests. The American Red Cross was called to assist guests with alternative accommodations.

City Engineer Sam Huddleston and the City's Building and Codes Department were also contacted to assess the damage of the building.

Swann says the hotel will most likely be closed for business until further notice.

No one was injured during the incident. Crews are still on scene at this time assisting with evacuation of the hotel.
