Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department’s Engine 4, Rescue 7, and Car 24 (Shift Commander) responded to a large diesel spill at 1330 NW Broad Street (Prestige Auto Spa) around 11:30 Saturday morning.

According to Shift Commander Daryl Alexander, approximately 55 gallons of diesel spilled from a tank on the back of a truck entering the carwash. “We have City Environmental Engineer Sam Huddleston in route,” said Alexander. “At this time we do not believe the fuel is posing any environmental threat, as it is mostly contained in the holding tanks inside the carwash.”

An environmental cleanup crew has been called to mitigate the situation. “They will have to extract all the fuel from the holding tanks before beginning the cleanup process,” said Alexander.

The business will be closed until further notice.
