[ARCHIVED] MFRD Responds to Fire at 2573 Concord Court

Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department’s District 8, Ladder 6, and Engine 1 responded to a “fence on fire” at a duplex located at 2573 Concord Court around 12:40 am July 4.

When crews arrived on scene, heavy black smoke and flames were visible from the back side of the unit.

Crews immediately laid out a line and began an attack on the fire, which had spread from the fence, to the eaves and attic of the unit, according to Shift Commander Dale Maynard. “The crews knocked the fire down quickly and extinguished hot spots. The unit received fire, heat, and water damage, but crews were able to contain most of the damage to the back side of the unit,” said Maynard.

The fire appears to have started where the residents’ garbage cans were stored; however, it is unclear at this time what caused the fire. MFRD’s Fire Marshal’s Office is on the scene investigating.

Two residents were displaced and were offered assistance from the Red Cross.

“We are checking now to see if the other unit received any damage,” said Maynard. “We will be out here for a while, clearing our equipment.”

Despite the pouring rain, the Fire Marshal’s Office will stay on scene to investigate.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
