Events

Some of our large public events each year include Hummingbird Festival in early September, Barfield Bash in late October, World Turtle Day in May, and more! Check out the Outdoor Murfreesboro Facebook Event Page for details.

Animal Encounters

allows you to get up close and personal with some of our education animals, as one of our educators talks about a critter's natural history. Animal Encounters happens most Saturdays at 1:30 p.m. and three times a week in the summer months!

Environmental Education

programs (Animal Tracks, Fossils, Geology, craft programs, etc.) and interpretive hikes and night hikes occur on many Saturdays and weekend evenings throughout the year.

Outdoor Adventure

programs also occur year-round! Join us for an evening paddle on the Stones River, a paddleboard excursion on Percy Priest, or a waterfall hike at South Cumberland State Park!

Music in the Wild

is a great summer concert series in Barfield Crescent Park.

Nature Play

is a chance to kids to get messy as they explore the world around them! Mud painting, kiddie pool fun, shaving cream art, and more are some of the activities you can expect your kid to enjoy at this popular program!
