Responsibilities
The fabrication and installation of regulatory, warning, and guide signs within the city right-of-ways are performed by the Transportation Department's Sign Division.
This division consists of two employees, certified by the International Marking and Signal Association as level II sign technicians. All signs are fabricated through a computer- generated system, using the most current retro-reflective materials. The department maintains a current sign inventory in our computer system, which is the means in determining sign replacement.
Private Signs
Privately owned signs are the responsibility of the property owner. For information regarding the installation and maintenance of signs on private property including temporary signs, banners, and sign permits fees, please contact the Building and Codes Department at 615-893-3750.
Missing Signs
When reporting missing traffic signs please be sure to include the condition of signs and post, when applicable.
New Sign Request
Requests for new signs including the installation of speed limit sign, neighborhood watch sign, kids at play sign must be addressed to the City's Transportation Department at 615-893-6441 (OPT 3).
