Mike BrowningPublic Information DirectorPhone: 615-848-3245 x1502Mike Browning has served as the Public Information Officer (PIO) for the City of Murfreesboro since June 2014. As a Multimedia Content Specialist for Middle Tennessee State University, Mike produced video content and hosted the university’s monthly television magazine show,Out of the Blue. As Public Affairs Director for the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security from 2007-2011, Mike managed a five-member staff including marketing, communications and visual communications. Prior to working in public communication, Mike spent more than twenty-five years as a broadcast journalist including for WKRN, the ABC affiliate in the Music City. Browning worked in a number of cities throughout his television news career, including markets in Connecticut, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas and Illinois. In May 2017, Mike graduated from MTSU with a Master of Arts degree in Public History. He also holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock and earned his undergraduate degree in Radio-TV from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale .

Ashley McDonald, a PIO in Administration, has been with the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department for over 11 years and has served as Public Information Officer since 2012. In her role as MFRD PIO, she is responsible for media and public relations, as well as the department’s social media platforms. McDonald hosts two of the City of Murfreesboro’s most popular shows, “Adventures in Firefighting” and “Cooking with MFRD,” which air on CityTV as well as YouTube. In her role as PIO in Administration, McDonald is responsible for internal communications and event planning. A graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, McDonald also serves as Vice President of the National Information Officer’s Association (NIOA). She will graduate from the Master Public Information Officer Program at the Emergency Management Institute in September 2019.
