Paving activity

(updated May 5, 2008)

  • Normal traffic flow could be interrupted periodically today and tomorrow as striping along Middle Tennessee Boulevard (MTB) is completed between Mercury and Broad.

  • Paving along Rutherford Boulevard between Ransom Drive and Broad will mean one-lane traffic restrictions starting Wednesday and road work will also mean normal traffic flow interruptions between Broad and Church.

  • Work associated with installation of city red light cameras at the intersections of Old Fort Parkway at Thompson Lane, Broad at Northfield Boulevard and South Church Street at Broad will also be underway this week. Cameras are installed and awaiting activation by June 1 at the first three intersections, South Church at MTB, Memorial Boulevard at Northfield and Mercury at Rutherford. Warning citations will be issued over the following 30 days to vehicle owners photographically identified as violators of the intersection stop bars and while installation of cameras continues at the remaining three intersections of Old Fort Parkway at Chaffin and Thompson lanes, Northfield at Northwest Broad and Broad at Thompson Lane. By July 1, cameras are expected to be operational at all six intersections and payable citations will be issued.
