Murfreesboro Municipal Airport
The Murfreesboro Airport, located on Memorial Boulevard, is a general aviation airport serving Middle Tennessee. A self sufficient department of the City of Murfreesboro, the Murfreesboro Municipal Airport is committed to safety and the improvement of its facilities to continue to better serve its commercial operators, the business community, local aircraft operators and owners, and people from all over the nation that fly into the community to visit friends and family.

The airport’s largest tenant is the Aerospace Department of Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). MTSU is one of the airport’s assets as it is one of the top schools for aviation in the nation.

Airport Commission
The City operates and manages the airport under the direction of the Airport Commission, which is a seven-member board. The Airport Commission serves as an advisory board to the mayor and City Council. Six Airport Commission members have knowledge or experience in aviation, and one lives within a 5,000 foot radius from the runway and represents the airport neighborhood. Two ex-officios, one a representative of Middle Tennessee State University and the second the City Manager, are non-voting members of the Airport Commission.

The Murfreesboro Airport is one of the only general aviation airports in the state of Tennessee that is self-supporting. No city tax dollars are used towards the daily operations of the airport. The revenue generated from leases and fuel sales funds the operations and capital improvement programs.

Awards & Recognitions
The Murfreesboro Municipal Airport was awarded the 2007 Airport of the Year Award for the State of Tennessee. The airport has also received fifteen consecutive Front Door Awards from the Tennessee Division of Aeronautics and Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development. The Front Door Award recognizes airports that meet all of the requirements for certification, maintain safe operations, maintain the grounds in good condition, and serve as good representatives of their community and of Tennessee to businesses that travel in and out of the city's "ront door at the airport.

With a growing number of businesses and industries from all across the country building stores, restaurants, and facilities in Murfreesboro, owners, engineers, contractors, managers, and clients are using the airport to quickly conduct meetings, check on their businesses, and fly out to their next destination. The airport allows them the ability to efficiently and effectively conduct business in Murfreesboro and several other locations across the nation in one day.
