Notice of Funding Availability
Public Service Grants



The City of Murfreesboro expects to fund Community Development Public Service Grants for the 2017-18 Program Year. The projects funded by the Public Service Grants must benefit low- and moderate-income residents of Murfreesboro.

Community Development Block Grant regulations (24 CFR 570.201) allow the use of grant funds for a wide range of public service activities, including, but not limited to:


Child care/counseling          Public safety services         Homebuyer counseling

Health care                          Fair Housing activities         Energy conservation

Job training                          Youth services                     Services for senior citizens

Recreation programs          Homeless services              Education programs

Substance abuse counseling and treatment


Qualified nonprofit agencies (applicant organizations must have 501(c)3 tax-exempt status) and government agencies are invited to apply for these competitive grants.

Applications for 2017-18 Public Service Grants will be accepted on-line only. Details for applying are included in the Program Guide. The criteria for scoring applications is available here. How much funding will be available is not known and will not be known until the federal FY 2017 spending budget is approved and CDBG allocations announced. CDBG grantees have been notified that announcement may not come until late June. All awards listed in the draft Third-Year Action Plan will be contingent on funding becoming available.
