One Month Program
Accounts that have a $50 or greater balance and have one month's bill / statement unpaid will be subject to disconnection of their water service and service fee(s). To prevent disconnection, visit our office to obtain an extension or pay the balance before 9 a.m. on the nonpayment penalty date shown on your bill.

Payment Extension Program
  • Extensions can be obtained by visiting the office prior to the date your service is scheduled to be interrupted. A maximum of six days will be granted for an extension beyond the scheduled interruption date, in the absence of a leak.
  • Accounts with a leak may have a greater period of time to pay their balance to avoid interruption of water service. The day following the extension expiration date, accounts will be audited.
  • Any account that has failed to pay the full amount of the extension will be subject to interruption of water service the following day without further notice.

Murfreesboro Water and Sewer Department (MWSD) Policies
We understand the importance of this policy change to many of our customers. As a result, we are notifying our customers early so they can begin to address their balances and payment patterns. Many MWSD policies have remained unchanged, such as: 
  • Offer of automatic discounts on excessive water usage above winter averages between April and October on residential and commercial accounts
  • No deposit required when initiating or transferring service
  • Customers may pay the non-refundable service on their bill when new or transfer service is requested
  • Optional automatic bank draft is available for a worry free option to bill payment
  • We strive to effectively serve and assist our customers in a prompt and courteous manner
