Smoke Alarms
In February 2012, the Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department (MFRD) used funds from a FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant to purchase 2,500 dual detection smoke alarms, 100 audio / visual alarms, and 100 bed shakers for free distribution and installation to Murfreesboro citizens.

Dual Detection Alarms
The dual detection alarms utilize both ionization and photoelectric detection methods, allowing the alarms to better detect both smoldering and flaming fires.

Audio / VIsual & Bed Shaker Alarms
The audio / visual and bed shaker alarms are specifically for the elderly, disabled, and hearing-impaired.

Project SAFE
MFRD’s Project SAFE (Smoke Alarms for Everyone) has been very successful since its inception in 2000, as many residents have already taken advantage of the program. This is just one of many ways that MFRD strives to offer service excellence in the City of Murfreesboro.
