Affordable Housing Assistance
This housing program is administered through the Community Development Department and helps make the dream of homeownership a reality for low-income, first-time homebuyers in the City of Murfreesboro. Participants in the program receive homebuyer education counseling and are offered an affordable second mortgage to assist with the initial cost of purchasing a home.

Program Funds
This program is funded with Community Development Block Grant Funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development and other funds designated by the city for the housing program.

Helpful Resources
More information on this program is available by viewing the Affordable Housing Assistance Program brochure and the program's policies and procedures.

Lead-Based Paint
Many homes built before 1978 contain lead-based paint which can pose serious health hazards. The City requires all housing units built before 1978 and financed through the Affordable Housing Assistance Program to be tested for the presence of lead and be cleared by a certified risk assessor prior to funding the real estate transaction. The assessment and one clearance test will be paid by the City with program funds. The potential presence of lead hazards is disclosed to all parties in a pre-1978 transaction.
