 Our department is owned and operated by the City of Murfreesboro, and is dedicated to providing its customers with a bountiful supply of clean, safe water and sanitary sewer service in the most economical and efficient way possible. Service is provided to approximately 27,000 customers within the corporate limits of the City of Murfreesboro, and sanitary sewer service is being provided to areas served by Consolidated Utility District in developing areas close to the city limits.
We believe that professionalism is the key to efficient operation. Consequently, our staff includes a large percentage of licensed, certified and degreed personnel that are recognized leaders in their fields.
A seven-member advisory board has the oversight of department policy and financial operations. User charges provide the sole source of revenue for the water and sewer department. No general tax base revenues are received yet our rates are well below those of many of our sister utilities.
We want our customers to be satisfied with the service we provide and we encourage them to call us with any problems or insights they might have. In fact, we have instigated a new billing system to make it less expensive to comply with postal regulations and make it easier on our customers at the same time.
