Criminal Investigations Division
The Criminal Investigations Division is comprised of four (4) sections.
- General Investigations Section
- VICE Section
- Domestic Violence Section
- Intelligence Section
- Drug Finders/Gun Finders
General Investigations Section
The General Investigations Section is responsible for criminal investigations and support services for the Uniform Division twenty-four (24) hours a day. They are responsible for investigation of all type of crimes such as homicide, burglary, thefts, robberies and crimes against persons.

VICE Section
The VICE Section is responsible for the investigation of such crimes as narcotics, prostitution and gambling violations. This section performs street level drug arrests as well as long-term investigations into major drug traffickers.

Domestic Violence Section
The Domestic Violence Section is responsible for investigation of all reports of domestic violence related crime. This section assists victims and family members obtain arrest warrants, Orders of Protection, assistance with the Domestic Violence Office, shelter and any other needs when requested.

Intelligence Section
The Intelligence Section is responsible for preparing composite drawings of suspects, drawing diagrams of crime scenes and preparing photo arrays for victim/witness identification. This section is also responsible for background investigations of prospective employees and coordination of the Parole Opposition Program.
Drug Finders/Gun Finders
The Drug Finders/Gun Finders program will pay a minimum reward of $100.00 for information leading to the arrest of any person possessing illegal drugs or guns. The mere presence of illegal drugs and guns in our schools, parks, work places, streets and all facilities accessible to our citizens and visitors creates fear and disorder.
Anyone who has knowledge of illegal drugs and guns should immediately contact Drugfinders or Gunfinders at (615) 893-2717, or the Communications Section of the Murfreesboro Police Department at (615) 893-1311.
