Personnel

The Personnel Department is responsible for all human resource functions for the City. This includes accepting all employment applications for the City-General and the Murfreesboro Water and Sewer Department, payroll, retirement benefits, insurance benefits and the City's flexible benefits. Other responsibilities include wage assignments, employee verifications, sick and annual leave administration, long term disability, Employee Assistance Program, Worker's Compensation, Family Medical Leave, Americans with Disabilities Act, the Return to Work Following Illness or Injury, and explaining questions regarding city policies.

Employment Information

Each Sunday, the City of Murfreesboro advertises available positions in the Daily News Journal. After a position is advertised, you must complete an application form, which is available in the Personnel Department on the first floor of City Hall. Detailed job descriptions are also available from the Personnel Department.

Employment information may also be obtained 24 hours per day at the Personnel Department's Jobline at 848-2553 by accessing a recorded message detailing the current positions for which applications are being accepted and on this web site by clicking on Job Listings.

Certain positions with the city are classified Safety Sensitive and applicants must be willing to undergo a drug and alcohol test under offer of employment. If you have any questions about employment with the City, please call the Personnel Department at 848-2553.

Pension Committee

The Pension Committee is a seven-member board appointed by City Council to oversee the City's pension plan.
