Patterson Park Community Center

Patterson Park Community Center is the latest addition to the City of Murfreesboro's list of excellent recreational facilities.

What began as a gleam in the eye of some local community activitists, enthusiasts and city officials has developed into a $14 million, multipurpose recreational facility with adult and youth gymnasiums; two handball/racquetball courts; an indoor water park with a three-loop waterslide, four-lane lap pool, whirlpool and a zero depth pool with play attractions.

The facility is located at 521 Mercury Blvd. And the phone number is 893-7439. Access packages are the same as for Sports*Com and are listed below.

Tom Sage is facility superintendent and Russell Smith is the operations coordinator.

Operating hours are the same as for Sports*Com or Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 until 5 p.m.

Community Anti-Drug Coalition of Murfreesboro (CADCOM) will co- hosting a Town Hall Meeting to in Patterson Park Community Center March 28 from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. to discuss the issue of underage drinking. State Rep. John Hood (D-Murfreesboro) will be the moderator and local dignitaries are expected to attend. Over 900 communities across the country are hosting Town Hall Meetings that same evening.

A series of line dancing classes has been scheduled in Patterson Park Community Center beginning with a preview (free) class March 25 from 1 until 3 p.m. The eight-week series will meet on subsequent Saturdays. The$28 fee is due on the official start of the session April 1. No bronze pass or membership is required.
