Parks
Park areas play an integral part in the total parks and recreation program offerings for our citizens. Here is a list of our parks from largest to smallest:
Barfield-Crescent
Park
Barfield Crescent Park is a 300-acre community park located at 697
Barfield-Crescent Road in the southern area of Murfreesboro. The current
facilities include an eight-field baseball/softball complex with parking for
600 cars, including lighted fields, two concession stands, scorekeeper areas
and scoreboards. The park also includes the department's administrative
offices and a walking/jogging trail.
Opened in the Fall of 2000 were 10 picnic shelters with tables (four shelters seating 24 in each, one shelter seating 76 in each, four shelters seating 108 in each and one corporate shelter seating 336+), a Frisbee (Disc) Golf Course, wilderness station with two education classrooms, restrooms and outdoor camping supplies and campsites.
Barfield-Crescent Park, located off Barfield-Crescent Road near U.S.
231 South (Shelbyville Highway) is one of Murfreesboro's newest parks.
It includes over 300 acres of full-service venue, walking trails and a
wilderness area.
Star*Plex
Star*Plex is a
five-field youth/ adult
baseball/softball complex with concessions and rest room facilities (home of the
Optimist Little League Baseball Program). It includes eight youth/adult soccer
fields with a picnic shelter, concession and rest room facilities and one medium-sized picnic shelter located next to the side parking lot of Sports*Com.
Old Fort Park
Old Fort Park is a 50-acre community park located
at 1025 Old Fort Pkwy. Facilities include two picnic shelters (one with rest rooms),
one small
playground near Shelter #1, Kids' Castle Playground, two baseball fields with
lights, concession stand, scoreboards, press box and rest rooms, volleyball
area, large open space with a backstop and 20 electrical hook-ups.
Oakland Park
Oakland Park is a 25-acre neighborhood park and
historic site located at the corner of N. Maney and Roberts Street. Adjacent is
the Oaklands Mansion National Historic Site, Oakland Spring area, nature trail
(undeveloped), volleyball area, and two picnic shelters with six tables per
shelter, two ball fields (one Babe Ruth, one Little League) with
lights, press boxes, scoreboards, concession stand and rest room facilities.
Rogers Park
Rogers Park is a 7.5-acre park, located at the
end of Hunt St. (1115 Hunt St.). The facilities include: picnic shelter
with rest rooms and picnic tables, octagon shaped picnic shelter with tables,
two tennis courts, basketball goals, walking/jogging track, playground and open
play field.
Jaycee's
Mini-Park
The Jaycee's mini-park is a one-acre passive park
located at the corner of Bell St. and Crossway Ave. There are three picnic tables,
seven
benches and open space.
Westview Mini-Park The Westview mini-park is a one-acre park at February
Street. The park consists of a picnic shelter with two tables, playground and
basketball goal.
Black Cat Cave The Black Cat Cave is located on Hwy. 231 North across from the VA golf course. There are two picnic tables, a cave and open space.
Bark Park
A perfect place for people to play with their pets off-leash! Access the Murfreesboro Bark Park from the General Bragg Trailhead of the Murfreesboro Greenway System. The Bark Park is located in the open green space to the south (right) of the trailhead. General Bragg Trailhead is located off of West College Street (Old Nashville Hwy.).
