Future Expansion of the Murfreesboro Greenway System
With the proven success of greenways in Murfreesboro, we are looking towards expansion. The trail will be extended from the existing Overall Street Trailhead through Old Fort Park and beside Old Fort Golf Course, where it will meet with the West Fork of the Stones River. The Greenway will pass under Old Fort Parkway and follow alongside the river until it reaches its southern destination, Barfield Crescent Park. This project has begun with the construction of a new trailhead pavilion at Old Fort Park, located between Kid’s Castle and the tennis courts.
Plans also include a 2.2 mile overland trail to connect the existing greenway with the new Gateway Center, as well as future northern expansion to Siegel Park and Walter Hill Park, with hopes to connect to Smyrna, LaVergne, Nashville, and beyond.
