Councilmember Shane McFarland
Shane McFarland was elected to office in 2006.
McFarland is a Murfreesboro resident and graduate of Middle Tennessee State University. He served as 1995-1996 MTSU Student Body (SGA) President and received his BA in Accounting in 1997. He is a 1998 Graduate of Leadership Rutherford.
He is married to Ashley Ryan/McFarland and they are the parents of identical twin sons, Luke and Eli.
McFarland currently serves as council representative on the Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Commission, the Old Fort Golf Commission and the City-County Cultural Arts Commission. He has served on the Murfreesboro Planning Commission, and the Murfreesboro Historic Zoning Commission. McFarland is a director on the Discovery Center Board. He is past chairman of the Rutherford County Crime Stoppers and currently serves on its board of directors. He has also served as officer of the Murfreesboro Noon Rotary Club, and is a past board member and continued supporter of Special Kids.
McFarland is a past Optimist League and One Goal baseball coach and a member of the Blue Raider Athletic Association. He is a competition Triathlete and enjoys playing golf and guitar.
McFarland is Chief Financial Officer for Greenvale Homes, LLC. He is a member and usher at World Outreach Church.
