Plan Review Procedure
Plans are reviewed by the plan review committee comprised of representatives from each department of the City of Murfreesboro. Meetings are held weekly and are coordinated by the plans examiner. The general contractor and/or architect are requested to attend the review meeting. Two sets of plans are required.
All multi-family (5 units in a single building located on one lot) or commercial establishments require a site plan that has been prepared by a registered State of Tennessee Engineer. (For specific site plan requirements, contact the, planning department at 615-893-6441.)
All drawings, specifications, and accompanying data shall bear the seal of a Tennessee-licensed architect/engineer for structures of educational, institutional or assembly occupancy, structures 3 or more stories in height, and structures over 5,000 square feet in area (except one- or two-family dwellings). (For specific building plan requirements, contact the building department at 615-893-3750.)
You will need two forms to make application for plans review easier. The first is the application itself and the second is a checklist you can use before you submit your plans.
