The City Of Murfreesboro's GIS Department is pleased to announce the following GIS web sites intended for public use:

  • Public Kiosk - for novice users. Easy to navigate, but has limited functionality.
  • Public Access - for advanced users. Ability to print maps, measure, select parcels, and save images. For more information, see below.
  • Survey Network - for surveyor's use. For more information, see below.
  • MWSD GIS Department - access to MWSD's water, sewer, repurified water and stormwater data.

The Public Access and Public Kiosk sites contain the same information but have different functionality. Average Daily Traffic (ADT) information is also available through this web portal.

New data layers have been added to the websites. They include Soils, 1’ Contours, 2007 FEMA Flood Information and 2007 Average Daily Traffic Data. Also, the Survey Control Network website now includes the Buchanan Area Control Points.

Public Access

Designed for the more advanced user. This site has the ability to print 8.5" x 11" layouts (portrait and landscape) into PDF format, which can be saved for future use or printed (get the latest Adobe Reader Updates).

Users also have the ability to select and buffer parcels with the option to export the tabular results into a Comma Separated Value (CSV) file. The CSV file can be imported into software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel or Access to generate mailing labels, envelopes and form letters.

The "Save Map Image" tool allows for the capture of images to be used in reports, e-mails, etc.

The "Measure" tool enables users to calculate distances and area in square feet and acres.

Survey Network

The site allows surveyors to search for and access control point data so they can reference their site work into real-world coordinates. This greatly enhances the accuracy and also allows for digital siteplans to be imported into GIS and CAD systems without compromise.

Due to the large file sizes of our aerial photography, please zoom to the area in question before enabling the 2007 aerial photography.

If you have any questions or comments about the GIS web sites, please contact Gerald Lee, GIS Coordinator.
