Councilmember Eddie Smotherman
Councilmember Eddie Smotherman was elected to the city council in April 2012.
He is a lifelong resident of the city. He is married and has two sons.
Smotherman attended Mitchell-Neilson, Central Middle, Oakland High School and MTSU. He has been a Murfreesboro Volunteer of the Year, State MDA Chairman and is a Murfreesboro Jaycee. He has been a Parks and Recreation youth sports coach in Murfreesboro for 38 years.
Smotherman worked as an Analyst at Nissan Motor Manufacturing for 18 years and is currently a small business owner (Gem in the Box Jewelry Shoppe) in Murfreesboro.
Council Member Smotherman has been appointed to serve on the Murfreesboro Airport Commission, the Parks and Recreation Commission and the Urban Environmental Commission.
