The City is constructing the Gateway Trail, which will connect the existing Stones River Greenway System to the Gateway. The first phase includes 2.2 miles of trails on the north side of Medical Center Parkway. These trails are available for you to enjoy nature hikes, walking, running, bicycling, or in-line skating. The Murfreesboro Greenway System connects historical sites, parks, neighborhoods and businesses; it also serves as a conservation corridor to preserve precious natural and cultural resources.
The greenway extension includes an island within the Gateway pond, which features a small building and gazebo. The pond includes three floating fountains. The pond also provides detention for the Gateway project and receives repurified water from the Water and Sewer Department. The island is accessed via two pre-fabricated steel bridges and is flanked by waterfall features to its north and south. The building on the island is approximately 1,200 sf. and includes restrooms, a multi-purpose area and caterer’s kitchen.
