Planning Commission

City council appoints a seven-member planning commission to make recommendations on applications for annexation, rezoning and ordinance amendments.

The planning commission has two regularly scheduled meetings each month, the first and third Wednesdays. The meeting held on the first Wednesday of each month is scheduled for 7 p.m., and the primary purpose of the meeting is to conduct public hearings on applications for annexation and rezoning. The meeting held on the third Wednesday of each month is scheduled for 1 p.m., and the primary purpose is to consider subdivision plats and site plans, to study applications for annexation and rezoning, and consider staff reports.

The planning commission is responsible for making a recommendation to the city council on each application for annexation or rezoning. It conducts public hearings in order to gain information relevant to preparing its recommendation. Your assistance will help in making an informed decision. All planning commission meetings are open to the public and no business will be conducted without prior notice. Planning Commission members and their terms of service are listed on the Boards and Commissions list.

All regularly scheduled meetings are televised and can be viewed as scheduled on Cable Channel 3. Any member of the public is invited to attend meetings. Requests for an accommodation to enable an individual with a disability to attend or to participate in a meeting should be made by calling Glen Godwin at 893-5210, TDD 849-2689, at least two (2) working days in advance.
