Spring Kids Fest
This FREE family event brought to you by Rutherford Parent magazine will offer face painting, children’s games and activities, live stage performances and more. In addition, a variety of local businesses interested in reaching families in Rutherford County will have booths to visit. Prize giveaways will be held throughout the event as well.

Citywide Easter Egg Hunt
Children of all ages will enjoy this hunt. Participants will hunt for eggs and then exchange them for prizes at our egg-change booth. Age-appropriate hunts will be offered repeatedly throughout the event, ensuring that everyone has a fair chance. In addition, there will be carnival-style games and a visit from the Easter Bunny. 37th Annual Pioneer Days at Cannonsburgh Village
Cloggers, old-time music and demonstrators, over 40 crafters, hayrides, Harriet Tubman played by June LaGreen, blacksmith demonstration, Art League demonstration, Antique Auto Car Show, and a bluegrass band concert.

Barfield Beach Party
Who said there were no beaches in Murfreesboro? We want to invite you to Barfield Crescent Park, where we will have a real beach party. Over 60 tons of sand is used to create the beach before it is used throughout the park systems. Come join us for music, dancing and a variety of games and activities.

Drown Proof Murfreesboro “Free Swim Lesson Day”
Join us in helping you stay safe at the pool this summer in our endeavor to drown proof Murfreesboro. According to the Center for Disease Control,“ children who participate in a formal swim lesson are 88% less likely to become drowning victims.” This event will provide free swim lessons, CPR training and many other safety awareness activities. Many pool vendors will be on site to answer any pool questions you might have as well. Special summer offers will be available for many of the Parks and Recreation summer activities.

A Stones Throw Away
We need your help cleaning up the Greenway! Volunteers will pick up trash beside the trail, on the banks of the Stones River and Lytle Creek, or in the water. Trash bags, gloves, water and snacks will be provided. Bring: Wear sturdy shoes and clothes that can get wet and dirty. 3rd Annual Try Boro Kids 2.5k/5k
Does your child love to run races? Kids ages 5 – 14 can compete in either the 2.5K (1.55 miles) or 5K (3.1 miles) race at the beautiful Gateway Island Trail. Fee includes a healthy snack, a souvenir t-shirt and a finisher’s medal, and awards will be given to the top finishers in several age groups. This is a professionally-timed event. Parents may run with their child in either race for an additional $5 (shirt and award not included); parents are strongly advised to run with their child aged 8 and under in the 5K. Hershey’s Track and Field Local Meet
More than 400,000 children compete in the Hershey’s Track and Field Games annually - making it the largest youth sports program of its kind in North America. Here is your opportunity to become a part of it all. Winners of this local meet will go on to the district where they will qualify for the State. Winners of the state meet will be considered for the North American Finals team. All children ages 9 - 14 should take advantage of this free program. World Turtle Day
Come join us in a day dedicated to our shelled friends as we celebrate and discover ways to increase turtle conservation around the world. Participate in the World’s Slowest Hike and stop at each turtle station to learn about the different species that inhabit our planet. In addition, find out steps to become a better GREEN family at home and in your schools to help out all the critters on this planet—including us! Small Fry Tri – A Triathlon for Preschoolers
Murfreesboro’s smallest triathlon! Kids will run, bike and “swim” (run through sprinklers) to the finish line, where every participant receives a trophy. Parents and older siblings may help. Bring a bicycle or tricycle and a helmet. Preregister and get your race packet early at Sports*Com, Patterson Community Center or the Wilderness Station between Tuesday, May 28, and Friday, May 31.
