Cannonsburgh Village - 890-0355


CannonsburghHistoric Cannonsburgh Village is located at 312 S. Front St. (behind Sticks and Stuff on Broad Street). The village is open May 1 through Dec. 1, Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sundays from 1 until 5 p.m. For more information, please call 615-890-0355.

The Village represents approximately 100 years of early Tennessee life from the 1830s to the 1930s. Within the Village is a gristmill, school house, telephone operator's house, the University House, the Leeman House, a museum, a caboose, the Wedding Chapel, a doctor's office, a general store, a blacksmith's shop, a well and other points of pioneering interest.

Guided tours are available for a small fee, but self-guided tours are free. The Visitor Center has a variety of items for sale including post cards, t-shirts, snacks, drinks and souvenirs.

 


School Tours

Guided school tours of Cannonsburgh Village are available 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, by appointment. There is a fee of $2 per student; teachers and chaperones admitted free with paid school tour. The tours last approximately 1 1/2 hours with additional time required for larger groups. The picnic area can be reserved if needed for your tour group. No tours in stormy weather. Contact Sheila Hodges, 615-890-0355, for additional information or to schedule a tour.

Uncle Dave Macon Days

Come and celebrate the 33rd Annual Old-time Music and Dance Festival in historic Pioneer Village July 9 through 11.  Bring your lawn chair and enjoy old-time music, singing, dance, crafts, and concessions.  For all ages.  The fee is $5.

International Folk Fest and Car Show

Come enjoy performances from around the world on Saturday, June 19.  Shop from over 40 crafters and vendors.  For all ages and admission is free.  For more information please contact Shelia Hodges at 890-0355.

Cburgh Visitor CenterMurfreesboro/Rutherford Art League and Gallery

Created for the fellowship of artists and to provide lessons for new or experienced artists, the league meets Mondays from 7 to 9 p.m. M.R.A.L’s gallery displays art creations by its members. It also serves as workshop, classroom, business office, and social gathering place for members. Founded by a local group of artists and chartered in 1966, the Murfreesboro/Rutherford Art League is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to develop and maintain a vibrant artistic environment in the Rutherford/Murfreesboro community. Individual memberships are $25 and family memberships are $35. Special attire is not required; however, wear clothing that may come in contact with the material used for class.

Antique Automobile Club of America,
Stones River Region

The club meets the first Tuesday of each month and invites anyone interested in antique cars and trucks to join. For more information, call Bruce Hickerson at 849-1841. Individual memberships or family memberships are available at the local or national level. The club meets at the Stones River Region AACA garage at Cannonsburgh Village.
