About the Artist
Background and Mission
The presence of a vibrant artistic community within a city is best testimony to the quality of that city's intellectual life. Founded by a local group of artists and chartered in 1966, the Murfreesboro Rutherford Art League (MRAL) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to advance art education and appreciation and thus ensure a vibrant artistic environment in the Murfreesboro and Rutherford County community.
MRAL fulfills its mission by:
1. providing art education and activities for adults and children through affordable classes and other community activities;
2. providing the community with opportunities to view, enjoy, and purchase works by local artists;
3 providing professional and amateur artists a meeting place to work together and exchange ideas;
4. providing amateur artists an opportunity to learn from professional artists; and
5. assisting professional artists in promotion and sales of their works.
Location
MRAL's gallery, located in the historic village of Cannonsburgh, displays art creations by its members. It also serves as workshop, classroom, business office, and social gathering place for members, and is a welcoming center to visitors to the city on special celebration days. The gallery is open to visitors from April to October.
