    What is a Costume Designer? A costume designer is in charge of designing the clothing elements worm by actors for a state production. Costume Designers possess a similar skill set to that of traditional fashion designers, but must also satisfy unique demands of designing clothes for theatre. From Willy Wonka's oompaloompa costumes to Hamilton's Eliza costume, designers set the tone and feel of a production. Costume designers can choose designs that span a lifetime. Join us for a 12-week course of costume design. By the end of the course, you will understand what it takes to design and try your hand at designing costumes for a future show. Each age group will be learning a portion of these songs to create 3 distinct and different sections of this composition. This weekly choir will get your child excited about singing and they will enjoy learning the ins and outs of a small ensemble choir.     This class is a great introduction to classic musical theatre dance basics from jazz to tap. Each step will be demonstrated, broken down, and added to appropriate choreography to build their confidence. Your child will build a foundation of musical theatre dance steps and confidence for their next musical audition and performance. At the end of the sememster the dancers will record the group choreography they have learned to share with their families. Dancers are required to have tap shoes and character shoes for each class and to wear proper dance attire or leggings and a Perform Murfreesboro t-shirt. For ages 13-high school senior.   1. Citizens Police Academy (CPA) POSTPONED UNTIL JAN. 2021

    Committed to expanding its relationship with citizens and continuing a tradition established in June of 2000, Murfreesboro Police Department holds semi-annual sessions of its Citizens Police Academy. The program seeks to educate, exchange ideas, and familiarize citizens with primary law enforcement operations and training. It will cover various topics such as: Uniformed Division policies and procedures Traffic enforcement and investigation Patrol procedures Criminal investigations Search and seizure laws and procedures K-9 Corps Officer survival A ride-a-long with an officer Community Outreach Programs Tours of the department facilities Public relations Overview of the Special Operations Unit Gang, vice, and narcotic investigation procedures Domestic violence While the academy is not intended to certify a civilian as a police officer, it will better inform citizens about MPD. Our goal is to create a better quality of life for citizens, visitors, and guests.

  1. Imagine A Day Without Water High School Video Contest

    September 8, 2020 - October 16, 2020 @ Online/Virtual- If you are a high school student or if you know of a high school student who would be interested in, have them head over to www.murfreesborotn.gov/IADWW, read our contest guidelines, and complete the entry form for participation!

    The Murfreesboro Water Community Affairs Division is asking all high school students to help bring awareness to the value of water with our Imagine A Day Without Water Video Contest! Students will produce, film, and edit a 30-60 second video that represents the importance of water and the value it has in our everyday lives, including at least 1 of 3 themes: The Value of Water, Water/Wastewater Infrastructure, and/or Imagine A Day Without Water. At the end of the campaign, the best video for each grade level (Grades 9-12) will be chosen by a Selection Committee and rewarded a $100 Visa Gift Card. In addition one teacher whose class submits one collaborative video entry will also be selected by our Selection Committee and compete to win a $100 Visa Gift Card, to be used for their classroom. A total of $500 in prizes will rewarded!
