    The Murfreesboro Parks & Recreation Department has partnered again with The Heart of Tennessee’s American Red Cross to host and conduct local blood drives within the city. To assure further safety by practicing social distancing, Red Cross is asking donors to register online at Cannonsburgh Village Blood Drive or call 1-800-REDCROSS to identify open slots. When using the link enter your zip code then enter the CityOfMurfreesboro sponsor code. There are several opportunities to donate ranging from 1 to 6 PM, beginning on August 4 thru August 25.

    If you have ever wanted to know your vocal range or simply improve your voice, this is the class for you. We will help you extend your range and teach you to choose music that is most suited for your voice. This class will focus on vocal technique, projection, how to read music and much more. It will last approximately one semester and will meet at least 12 times. For ages 8-9. There are spots for up to 6 students in this class. Each student will participate in a music video at the end of the 12-week course.

  93. Intermediate Musical Theatre Dance

    August 31, 2020, 5:00 PM - 5:45 PM @ Washington Theatre at Patterson Park

    This intermediate class will be a great way for your dancer to build on the basic steps they have already learned. Each week new steps, movements and choreography will be used to add to your child's musical theatre dance knowledge. Your child will have a great foundation of dance steps for their next musical performance. At the end of the semester the dancers will record the groups choreography that they have learned to share with their families. Dancers are required to have tap shoes and character shoes for each class and to wear proper dance attire or leggings and a Perform Murfreesboro t-shirt. Registration is required by calling 615-893-7439 ext 6104 and ends on August 5. Space is limited.

    Committed to expanding its relationship with citizens and continuing a tradition established in June of 2000, Murfreesboro Police Department holds semi-annual sessions of its Citizens Police Academy. The program seeks to educate, exchange ideas, and familiarize citizens with primary law enforcement operations and training. It will cover various topics such as: Uniformed Division policies and procedures Traffic enforcement and investigation Patrol procedures Criminal investigations Search and seizure laws and procedures K-9 Corps Officer survival A ride-a-long with an officer Community Outreach Programs Tours of the department facilities Public relations Overview of the Special Operations Unit Gang, vice, and narcotic investigation procedures Domestic violence While the academy is not intended to certify a civilian as a police officer, it will better inform citizens about MPD. Our goal is to create a better quality of life for citizens, visitors, and guests.
